What IdlePlay collects

IdlePlay collects the minimum data needed to operate the app.

Anonymous account. When you first open IdlePlay, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous account with a random user ID. No email, name, phone number, or other personal information is collected or required.

Watch history and library data. Your catalog entries (titles you browse, watch progress, and queue) are stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your anonymous user ID. This data powers personalized recommendations and syncs your library across sessions.

Analytics events. IdlePlay logs anonymous usage events (screens viewed, features used, playback started) through Firebase Analytics. These events contain no personal information and are used solely to understand how the app is used and to improve it.

Crash reports. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics collects anonymous diagnostic data (device model, OS version, stack trace). No personal information is included.

What IdlePlay does not collect

Third-party services

IdlePlay uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Local network access

IdlePlay connects to media servers (Plex, Jellyfin) and network shares (SMB) on your local network. Server addresses and credentials you enter are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to Board Inc or any third party.

Data retention

Your anonymous account and associated data are retained as long as you use the app. You can delete all your data at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android Settings, which removes your anonymous account and all associated Firestore data.

Children

IdlePlay is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
